Public library Llançà
Our proposal responds to two key conditions of the site: on one hand, the boundary with Avenue Europa—the main entrance to the city—and on the other, the existing green areas and facilities within the property.

Public library. BGF: ca. 1.100 m². Llançà. Girona. Spain
We propose a single-story building that minimizes external surfaces (which are costly to maintain) while optimizing the spatial relationships between the different areas of the library.
The roof is designed as a landscaped garden, with varying slopes and heights adapted to the programmatic needs, urban context, and the surrounding buildings.
The building's freeform layout adapts to the irregular parceling along Avenue Europa, creating a continuous structure. Its varying heights respond to the specific requirements of each programmatic element: the library, a multipurpose room, and two levels for the archive.
The main entrance is located at the rear of the site, connecting directly to the municipality's existing cultural and social facilities in the city center. This approach fosters a user-friendly relationship with the environment, offering green spaces protected from traffic noise.
